PATRICK van Aanholt surprisingly returned to the Sunderland starting XI in the FA Cup third round after more than two months on the sidelines.
The left-back originally hadn’t been due to resume full training until next week, but after training with his team-mates at the Academy of Light yesterday, he came back into the fold following shoulder surgery.
Van Aanholt was one of six changes to the starting XI, with Liam Bridcutt, Steven Fletcher, Ricky Alvarez, Sebastian Coates and Emanuele Giaccherini all included - taking the spots of Billy Jones, Seb Larsson, Connor Wickham, Adam Johnson, Wes Brown and Will Buckley.
Leeds made seven changes to the starting XI, including full debuts for Dario Del Fabro and Brian Montenegro.
