GUS POYET is relishing the prospect of locking horns with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho tomorrow night.
The Sunderland head coach went to watch Chelsea train under Mourinho during the Portugese’s first spell in charge at Stamford Bridge.
And Poyet, who spent four years as a player at Chelsea, is looking forwards to tomorrow’s Stadium of Light reunion, in his first competitive clash with his former club as a manager.
“I know him (Mourinho) and I admire him a lot,” said Poyet today.
“He’s a different class of person and manager.
“I know him in football ways and as a person.
“I had the opportunity to watch him train a few times at Chelsea and it was very impressive.
“I’m looking forward to seeing him before the game, and then I hope there are no problems between the benches during the game!”
Poyet faces two of his former clubs this week, with Spurs visiting the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
“They’re special games,” added the Uruguayan.
“Probably going back will be more emotional than these two games.
“But before and after, it’s going to be nice to see plenty of friends and have a chat with them, talk about them and us.
“I hope I have the same enjoyment during the game which would be good news for us.”
