Sunderland have again been linked with a move for Spurs winger Andros Townsend today.

The Black Cats and Newcastle have been credited with an interest in Townsend for several weeks, with the England international out-of-favour at White Hart Lane after a bust-up with fitness coach Nathan Gardiner.

Fresh reports today indicated that Spurs have lowered their asking price to £7.5million for Townsend and that Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce is interested after tracking the 24-year-old at former club West Ham.

Allardyce has been speaking out today about the January transfer window, with Sunderland active in scouting potential reinforcements.

Despite moving out of the relegation zone last weekend, Allardyce is still cautious about the calibre of players who will be available to Sunderland and says the club are looking at loan moves, with an option to buy.

Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny could be available for Sunderland's trip to the Emirates on Saturday.

Koscielny limped off in Arsenal's draw at Norwich last weekend along with Santi Cazorla and Alexis Sanchez, and was expected to miss the Sunderland clash.

But there are reports in London that Koscielny is expected to return to training this week.
