Sunderland boss promises not to park the bus at Chelsea

GOING FOR IT ... Sunderland boss Gus Poyet.

GUS Poyet has promised he will not go back to former club Chelsea this weekend and ‘park the bus’.

The Blues have never lost at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho - 77 matches and counting.

But Poyet says Sunderland will not simply be looking to defend for 90 minutes this Saturday.

“If we compete, create chances and score and then Chelsea are better than you, then no-one will be surprised.

“But it is just important that you give it a go.

“There’s no point in parking the bus.

“I think there are plenty of teams that can go to Chelsea for many, many years and don’t win because it doesn’t go for them.

“People will ask how is it possible Sunderland might break Chelsea’s long unbeaten record at Stamford Bridge.

“But why not?”

Having seen his team play so well at Manchester City midweek, there’s a real possibility Poyet might name an unchanged side this weekend.

“There’s no point in parking the bus.

“We won’t look to change it much in terms of the team. There will be no surprises. We just look to go again.

“We had a plan and we stuck to it at City and eventually it worked in our favour.

“The idea is to have a plan and believe in what you do and stay in the game, never give it up.

“We want to start strong and make it difficult for Chelsea but at the same time look to cause them problems at the other end.”
