Sunderland refuse to be held to ransom by Tottenham Hotspur over Peter Crouch

SUNDERLAND are refusing to be held to ransom over their interest in Spurs striker Peter Crouch.

Reports from a number of media outlets last night and this morning claimed that a £10million bid had been lodged by the Black Cats.

However, the club had yet to make any offer for the 30-year-old, who has suddenly become surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane.

Sunderland will bid for Crouch today and chairman Niall Quinn is steeled for the usual hard-as-nails negotiations with opposite number Daniel Levy.

But the Cats are prepared to offer nowhere near the £10-12million figure that Levy is believed to be holding out for before agreeing to let the talismanic forward to leave.
