THE boss of Black Cats chairman Ellis Short’s favourite Wearside restaurant has spoken of his delight after he left a £1,800 tip following his latest visit.
The Texan billionaire dropped in at Abdur Rouf’s Shagorika, in Seaburn, for a curry after Saturday’s 1-0 win over Everton at the Stadium of Light.
“It’s not the first time he has come in, and he was happy to be celebrating the win,” said Mr Rouf, 49, who is a dad-of-seven.
“The other people who were eating in the restaurant at the time were really pleased he was in, and he actually spoke to many of them.”
Mr Short, 52, ate a dish of Chicken Mushury while at Shagorika, which is in Queen’s Parade.
“He prefers to leave it to me to decide for him what to eat, so I pick him a different dish each time,” added Mr Rouf.
“Since he has been involved with Sunderland, he has come for a meal here a few times.
“We are very proud that he comes to our restaurant when he visits the city.”
Following his visit to Shagorika, Mr Short headed into Sunderland city centre where he enjoyed drinks in Life of Riley, in Green Terrace.
