GUS POYET has warned his players to expect a completely different game against Hull City tomorrow than the derby last weekend which saw the Black Cats record their first Premier League win of the season.

And he has challenged them this weekend to record a long overdue first clean sheet of the Premier League campaign.

Sunderland will go into tomorrow’s game still on a high after their thrilling victory over Newcastle United on Sunday but the Uruguayan says that the Wearsiders have to expect a really tricky game at the KC Stadium.

“I think this game is going to be very different from the Newcastle one,” he mused.

“It will be a different atmosphere, a different situation, the nerves and the emotions will be completely different.

“And we need to concentrate on what we do and pay attention to the things that will be important to maybe win the game and certainly not to lose it.”

Sunderland’s game against Newcastle was an open encounter but Poyet sees tomorrow as much more of an attritional encounter.

“I think it will be tight with maybe just the one goal in it,” he said.

“I’m not expecting too many goals, we just need to look at keeping our first clean sheet – that would be amazing – and that would give us the best chance of getting a good result.

“Hull have been playing five at the back away from home and four at the back at home so that tells you that they are a team which prioritises defence.

“But we need to prepare well.

“That is what our training is all about during the week.”

They need to know how to play when their opponents are playing one system and what to be aware of when they are playing another.

“I will try to help them but it is up to them, they have to be switched on and they have to be open to little things you want them to do within the game.

“We go there feeling good about ourselves though and we go there looking for the win.”
