Sunderland’s Phil Bardsley is supporters’ player of the year

PHIL Barsdley has won the Sunderland Supporters’ Association Player of the Year award.

The 25-year-old full-back was voted the stand-out player of the 2010-11 campaign by voters among supporters’ branches across the country and last night received his recognition at a presentation night hosted by Radio Newcastle’s Nick Barnes and watched by team-mates Asamoah Gyan, Bolo Zenden and Titus Bramble at the Stadium of Light.

Belgian keeper Simon Mignolet was voted Young Player of the Year.
