LEE CATTERMOLE has warned Sunderland must be patient if they are to prevail against Swansea this weekend.

Sunderland face the Premier League’s men of the moment at the Stadium of Light on Saturday as the Black Cats look to bounce back from the end of a five-game unbeaten streak at Chelsea.

Swansea’s 3-2 victory over Arsenal last weekend has sparked widespread praise for the Welsh outfit’s approach to the Premier League, along with calls for the likes of Danny Graham, Scott Sinclair and Nathan Dyer to receive England recognition.

Yet resurgent Sunderland will still be confident of recording a third win in four outings at the Stadium of Light, with Swansea taking just six points from their 10 away games this season.

Cattermole believes Sunderland can succeed if they prey upon Swansea on the counter-attack, but warned they must accept the visitors will enjoy their share of possession.

The Black Cats skipper told SportMail: “It’s a tough league and you’ve got to show teams the respect they deserve.”
