ADAM JOHNSON, Wes Brown and Lee Cattermole are all expected to miss Sunderland’s FA Cup fourth round clash with Fulham this weekend.
Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is set to name a strong side to face the Cottagers on Saturday, as the Black Cats experiment with their formation to accommodate new signing Jermain Defoe.
But Sunderland will be without a trio of first-team regulars, with Johnson (calf) and Brown (knee) ruled out with niggling problems, and Lee Cattermole still on the sidelines.
Cattermole has not featured since the draw at Aston Villa on December 28 with groin and knee problems, although he is due to begin running again tomorrow.
First-team coach Charlie Oatway said today: “We’ve got a few little knocks, no different to any club so it’s not worth harping on about.
“We’ve got Lee Cattermole with a little knock, Wes Brown and Adam Johnson, who has a twinge in his calf.
“I think Lee is jogging tomorrow, but it’s a strong possibility that they won’t be participating in the game.”
However, midfielder Liam Bridcutt will be back in the fold after returning from a one-match suspension.
