AC MILAN have expressed an interest in signing Sunderland target Fabio Borini, according to reports in Italy.

Sunderland have spent the entire summer chasing Borini and have now resorted to looking at a loan fee for the Liverpool frontman after dropping their £14million offer for the Italian.

The Black Cats are considering alternative options to Borini, but last season’s Young Player of the Year remains Gus Poyet’s first-choice to fill the void on the left flank.

But reports in Italy today suggested Milan have joined the race for Borini after selling Mario Balotelli to Liverpool, with the Serie A giants also mooted to be interested in a loan move for Chelsea frontman Fernando Torres.
