IT’S quiet on the Newcastle United and Sunderland front today, but Manchester United’s bid to re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo is back in the news.
The Premier League champions are interested in bringing the striker back to Old Trafford after his £80m move four years ago.
But according to the Sun, Manchester United will have to battle Paris St-Germain to recapture Ronaldo, 28, after the Ligue 1 leaders made Real Madrid a “substantial offer” for the forward.
Andy Carroll’s ongoing transfer saga is still of interest to Newcastle fans, and the Daily Mirror says West Ham United have given up on signing the player on a permanent deal after baulking at the £17m asking price Liverpool want.
Instead, they are looking to sign Everton striker Nikica Jelavic this summer.
