'You did our town proud' - fans' praise for Hartlepool United as promotion dream comes true
Up the Pools!
It’s safe to say that Hartlepool United fans won’t forget June 20, 2021 in a hurry as their team scored promotion back to the EFL after four seasons in the National League.
It was a tense penalty shoot-out against Torquay United at Bristol’s Ashton Gate Stadium but it ended in absolute elation for Dave Challinor’s side and fans both home and away.
The match had everything – disallowed goals, twists, turns, extra time and (of course) a nerve-racking finish. What a watch!
As Poolies painted Bristol blue and white and toasted the victory back home, many of you took to social media to celebrate the lads’ success.
It was a day for the club’s history book and a Father’s Day to remember for years to come – but there’s not too much time to rest with the League Two season kicking off on Saturday, August 7.
