HARTLEPOOL Rovers’ wait for silverware goes on after they were beaten in the final of the Durham Intermediate Cup.
Rovers scored three second-half tries at Consett through Liam Armstrong, Liam Austwicke and Jack Gunn.
But they were beaten by the boot of Nick Cook who landed six successful kicks at goal to just two by Rovers who were being managed for the last time by Alan Brown.
Rovers did at one stage threaten a remarkable comeback as they fought from 21-8 behind to 21-20 late in the piece.
But a converted try and a Cook penalty in a very lengthy stoppage time killed off hopes of Rovers ending a 21-year wait for a county cup.
