GRAEME Storm has been handed an early start to his sixth crack at golf’s Open Championship.
The 33-year-old Hartlepool golfer has been drawn in the second group out on the Royal St George’s links at Sandwich on Thursday, when he will tee off at the unearthly hour of 6.41am.
Storm, who will be partnered by America’s Mark Calcavecchia and Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee, tried to smile about the prospect of an alarm call in the middle of the night and hopes conditions will be kind in Kent on Thursday morning.
“Being the dad of a young daughter having to be up early is not unusual,” said the talented 33-year-old.
“But having to wake up at 4am is a bit different isn’t it?
“It is a very sharp start but hopefully the conditions will suit me.
“It’s more likely to be a bit calmer at that time of the morning.”
