HARTLEPOOL darts prospect Paul Jennings will live his dream of playing on the World Championship stage after qualifying for the prestigious Lakeside BDO event at Frimley Green.

Jennings will play in front of the BBC cameras against the likes of Martin “Wolfie” Adams having comfortably qualified among the top 16 players guaranteed entry to the tournament next January.

Paul’s success on the oche has continued to grow over the past two years.

He has notched up six major titles and recently added the Finnish and Polish Open titles to his darting CV as he follows in the footsteps of fellow local player Tony Eccles, who is now a PDC stalwart after making his own Lakeside debut back in 2002.

Paul’s manager Kevin Hill said: “He is doing exceptionally well.

“I’ve managed him for a while but he’s done a lot of the work for himself.

“He works at home in the week and he’s a family man so it’s been a fairytale story for him.

“We’ve been team-mates for a fair amount of time and it’s not gone too badly, but this could now be a rise to fame for Paul.”
