Hartlepool Eldon Grove Tennis Club is hoping to serve up a smashing time for new players after receiving a funding boost and appointing a new coach.
The club has successfully applied to Sport England Small Grants programme netting them nearly £9,000.
And in addition to the Sport England funding, the club have appointed a new coach, Vicky Evans, a Lawn Tennis Association Level 3 Coach.
The club is inviting new players to join and take advantage of whole range of coaching sessions as the nation is gripped by Wimbledon fever.
Vicky said: “I am delighted to be coaching at the club where I have played all of my life.
“I am excited to be given this opportunity to develop players in a sport that I love, passing on many years of experience as both a player and coach.”
Vicky has played at Eldon Grove Tennis Club for over 30 years and has a passion for developing players from toddlers to club standard players helping them
all to realise their potential.
Club chairman, Stephen Turner, said: “We are delighted to receive this funding and hope to build on the excitement that is generated every year from Wimbledon
“The new coaching and competition programme will cater for everyone wanting to play from tots to older people and from complete beginners through to club players.”
The new sessions will include Tots Tennis for 3-4 year olds, new beginners sessions, Cardio tennis (a tennis inspired cardio workout), sessions for players with a visual impairment and a new ‘Family Tennis’ session allowing adults to learn to play tennis with their children.
Everyone who would like to attend the sessions are guaranteed a warm welcome from players at the friendly club.
The Club have also recently received funding from the Tennis Foundation to run sessions for players with Down’s Syndrome and are actively seeking new players for this session which runs on Friday evenings from 6pm to 7pm.

For people that want to take their skills further, the club also has adult and junior teams in the Durham and Cleveland Leagues.
If people do not want to join in group sessions, there is an opportunity for pay-as-you-play sessions or, if you want to play more regularly, the club offer membership packages, which would enable you to play with a friend or join in the regular evening and weekend sessions with existing members.
The club has seven all weather courts, three opposite the school with the club house and four next to the school.
