It was part of the vision of town rugby figure, Alby Pattison, whose company, Hart Innovations, are sponsoring the championship in Thailand’s capital in November, and the team manager, John Bickerstaff.
Hartlepool are one of eight sides in the field for the Bangkok International Sevens and are the only UK entrant.
Three teams are involved from the host country, the Thai National side, Thai Air Force and Thai Police. Sunnybank and Pindarri are Australia’s two representatives, with NZ Legends flying the New Zealand flag plus Olympic, from Kazakhstan.
The tournament takes place on November 12-13.
“There are less than 60 days to go and the excitement is building,” said Bickerstaff. “It’s a big venture we’re undertaking but it’s great for Hartlepool & District rugby.”
