Hartlepool golfer Graeme Storm back home before PGA Championship

GRAEME Storm is enjoying a break back in Hartlepool following his impressive showing in the Iberdrola Open.

He is recharging his batteries ahead of next week’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.

The in-form Hartlepool golfer tied for fifth on the Balearic Island of Majorca, carding a one-under par to finish alongside former Open champion Paul Lawrie and ex-US Master Jose Maria Olazabal.

Storm was some 10 shots off the lead entering the final two rounds, but a three-under followed by a regulation final day fired him to within five shots of winner Darren Clarke.

The 33-year-old has chosen not to compete in today’s Madeira Islands Open in Portugal, instead returning to Hartlepool for some recuperation and training.
