HARTLEPOOL Rovers were brought down to earth on Saturday when they went down by a single point 21-20 in their Durham Northumberland One clash with Ponteland.
Despite losing, Rovers climbed a place to fourth in the table leapfrogging Medicals, who went down 29-15 at leaders Darlington, on points difference but lost ground in the race for third place.
After the match, player-coach Alan Brown said: “In any game you want a level playing field and I don’t think we had that,” said Brown.
“You can’t help but being frustrated by some of the decisions the referee gave. That leads to players looking or waiting for the whistle and that just disrupts play.”
