JEMMA Lowe has missed out on the European Championship 50m butterfly semi-final.

The Hartlepool swimmer clocked 27.21 seconds for the sprint event in Berlin today, which means she is the second reserve for this evening’s semi.

J Lo has been picked in the 50, 100 and 200 by GB bosses at the Europa-Sportpark in the centre of the German capital.

The 24-year-old is not a big fan of the 50 metres and instead favours the longer races so will not be overly-concerned by her early exit in the one-length blast.

Lowe is looking to improve on her times at the Commonwealth Games where she reached two finals, only to end outside the medals.

She was sixth in the 100 at Glasgow and fifth in the 200 while she did not do the 50 at Torcross International Swimming Centre.
