Jemma Lowe completed her British Championship campaign on a high note with a bronze medal in the Women’s 100m butterfly.
After leading for three-quarters of the 200m final before ending fourth on Thursday night, the Hartlepool swimmer had the satisfaction of a podium finish tonight in Glasgow.
Her fellow Welsh international, Alys Thomas (Swansea), took gold in 58.66 seconds, edging out Loughborough’s Rachael Kelly (58.72 seconds).
Lowe, representing Bath University was third in 58.89, beating her team-mate Siobhan-Marie O’Connor (59.45) by over half a second.
The even at Tollcross doubled as the Rio trials, with the 26-year-old Poolie chasing her third Olympic games, having reached finals in both Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012, when she was one of the few bright spots in a disappointing competition for GB Swimming.
