JEMMA Lowe today made a stunning start to her British Gas Swimming Championships programme in Sheffield.
The Hartlepool swimmer ended the 200 metres butterfly heats this morning as the fast qualifier for this evening’s semi-finals in Sheffield.
Lowe, competing for the first time since winning two bronze medals in the World Short Course Championships last December, looked in brilliant nick at Ponds Forge.
The two-time Olympian clocked a time of two minutes, 10.45 seconds – a full second quicker than her nearest rival.
Bath’s Sophie Allen (2:10.45) was the second quickest qualifier while Middlesbrough Olympian, Aimee Willmott, was third just two hundreths of a second behind.
Hannah Miley was fourth in 2:12.65.
The British Gas Championships are acting as the World Championship trials.
