PAUL Jennings is out of the BDO Lakeside World Darts Championship after losing 5-2 to Scott Waites in his quarter.
The Hartlepool darts star was looking to go at least one better than 2012 when he reached the last eight, only to be eliminated by Wesley Harms from the Netherlands.
This time he lost out in a Durham v Yorkshire derby as Waites lived up to his “Scotty 2 Hotty” nickname, racing into a 4-0 lead.
Jenno fought back by taking the two sets after the interval but Waites won the seventh set by three legs to nil to reach his first BDO World semi.
Jennings, so accurate on his doubles in the impressive second round success over Ireland’s Jason Cullen on Wednesday night suffered a bout of ‘double trouble’ at Frimley Green.
The 36-year-old Poolie hit the first 180 of the last eight tie but Scotty took the opening set.
Jenno landed another max in the second set but Waites had the better time on the doubles and was 2-0 up.
Jennings had an outshot of 101 in the third set which needed a decoding leg but, again, it was Waites who came up trumps by taking out 28 with Paul back on 110.
The Headlander seemed to be back on track in set four when he clinched the first two legs but Waites reeled off three in a row to go 4-0 in front.
Facing a whitewash, Jenno fought back in the fifth set and then took the sixth with the aid of a 180 in the deciding fifth leg.
But Waites ran through the seventh set to end Jenno’s world dream.
