WEST Hartlepool’s championship charge faces another serious test on Saturday.
On paper, a trip to Pontefract would appear to be a cakewalk following gruelling wins over the second and third top teams on the last two Saturdays (kick-off 3pm).
A fortnight ago, West produced one of their best results of the season to regain first place in North One East when they beat Percy Park 10-0.
Last Saturday, the leaders then dredged up their worst when they were very fortunate to beat Wheatley Hills 21-18.
Stirring a comeback though it was, it did not paper over the cracks of a performance which lacked in every area, apart from guts.
West will need to find their old touch at Pontefract who are showing signs of regaining the sort of form which made Moor Lane one of the most difficult venues for clubs to visit.
After looking short odds for one of the three relegation spots, the West Yorkshire outfit seem to have turned a corner.West: C Cheslin, A Larkin, L Watson, G Robinson, A Cheslin, G Foreman, A Foreman, A Carr, L Bailey, A Coates, A Davies, T Dixon, C Miller, D Boatman, J Boatman (capt).
