PANTOMIME-LOVERS are in for a feast of entertainment with dance schools across town planning their annual shows.
From Monday, a series of shows are on the way, and January alone has plenty for people to enjoy – with all of the entertainment planned at the Town Hall Theatre, in Raby Road.
They start with Cinderella which is being staged by the Elwick Academy of Dance.
Organisers have described the show as “a magical retelling of everyone’s favourite pantomime”.
Geoff Lucas, who owns and runs the academy said: “It is going to be very traditional, and it will be the 66th year that we have had a pantomime at the school.”
Shows will run from Monday, January 5, to Saturday, January 10, starting at 6.45pm. There will also be a 2pm matinee on Saturday, January 10.
Tickets are £9.50 or £8.50 with concessions available.
The Town Hall Theatre will then welcome the Seaton Carew Academy of Dance, which will present Jack and the Beanstalk, from Monday, January 19, to Saturday, January 24.
Stunning costumes plus music and dance are promised in this show, which also has nightly performances at 6.45pm and a Saturday matinee at 2pm.
Tickets are £9.50 or £8.50 with concessions.
Dance school owner Denise Tyzack said: “We have got 140 people taking part, and we have got an adult cast as well. There are 35 different dance numbers, and it is a very traditional pantomime with plenty of glitzy costumes.
The Debbie Barrass Academy of Dance will present a variety show called Raise the Barre, also at the Town Hall Theatre.
Organisers say this will be a “spectacular family variety show that showcases unbelievable talent.”
There will be song, dance, comedy and drama and “something for everyone,” say the organisers.
This show runs from Wednesday, January 28, to Saturday, January 31. Shows will be held at 6.30pm and there will also be a 2pm Saturday matinee. Tickets are £9.50 with concessions at £8.50.
Anyone wanting tickets for any of the shows should contact the Town Hall Theatre box office on (01429) 890000.
