Flaming great way to honour Queen

THE skies over Hartlepool glowed with pride last night as the town saluted the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Beacons at Seaton Carew and on the Headland were lit at 10.15pm as more than 4,000 fires across the country marked the 60-year milestone.

The Headland torch was lit by Hartlepool Mayor Stuart Drummond together with several of the people who will carry the Olympic torch when it travels through the town next month.
