SUPER-TALENTED Candice Theasby has been crowned a British champion - but she is no stranger to top-level success.
The Hartlepool dancer has become the winner of the British Modern Dance Championship for the fourth year in a row.
And she did it at the time when she is working hard both on her A Levels in Biology, Physical Education and Psychology, as well as her dancing.
Her achievements have won the praise of those who know her, who said she has huge potential.
Success on the dance floor is nothing new for Candice, 16. She is also the winner of the North of England Tap Championships and has triumphed in the competition for the second year in a row.
She has also won the North of England Modern Dance championships for the second year in a row.
She dances with the Hartlepool-based Watson Academy of Dance run by her aunt Mandy Watson. Candice’s mum said: “I am ecstatic and so proud of her. Each time she wins is really special.
“It is really good because all of the dancers are so good these days. All of them are really strong.”
Praise for Candice has also come from staff at Hartlepool Sixth Form College where she is a student.
A spokesman said: “Candice’s potential with dance is huge, which was demonstrated when she became the winner of North of England Song and Dance, the Northern Counties Modern, winning the Classique de Danse award for the second time. “Candice is also the Northern Stage Modern Winner.”
Further success beckons as she has also reached the Grand Final of the Miss Dance Great Britain competition.
Candice is already a veteran of dozens of finals in numerous forms of dance including ballet, modern, tap, and song and dance.
