FRIENDS and family of a talented Hartlepool dancer are hoping to raise £3,000 so she can take up the opportunity of a lifetime.

Demmileigh Foster, 17, has been awarded a prized three-year scholarship at the prestigious Urdang Academy in the heart of London’s West End in September.

Her cousin Deanne Malton has launched a fundraising website to enable Demmileigh not to miss out on the opportunity.

The page on the website Go Fund Me raised almost £400 in its first day, and it is hoped she can reach the £3,000 target to help with the expenses of being based in the capital.

Deanne said: “Demmileigh is an amazingly talented dancer.

“It is difficult for families to finance such talent, but we would love to be able to get her there so she doesn’t miss out.

“I set up the webpage because I thought there is a lot of people who know her and might feel the same way about wanting to support her.

“I’m hoping we can raise £3,000 to support her and she can concentrate on her her studies.”

Demmileigh, who attends Stockton Riverside College, is a member of Hartlepool’s Nadine’s Academy of Dance and Peforming Arts.

She has won a clutch of regional and national dance titles including the All England Modern Championship twice.

Mum Elizabeth Foster, of Dyke House, Hartlepool, said: “I don’t want her to miss out on an opportunity as amazing as this.”
