THE talented Hartlepool Hawks cheerleaders will perform as part of their own packed show as the club closes in on a fundraising target to pay for much-needed equipment.

The youngsters who make up the team have made quite a name for themselves on the national cheerleading scene with an array of major trophies in the ranks.

But as well as performing, the team have also been on a fundraising drive to raise £10,000 needed to fund new specialist equipment.

A range of fundraisers have so far raised £7,000 and the club’s leaders are hoping a fun-packed event this weekend will pull them ever closer to the magical total.

Head coach Beccii Taylor, 22, said: “The sooner we get our own specialist equipment the better because then we can move into our own building and the club can have its own base.

“So far the support we have had at events, shows and fundraisers has been amazing.”

Beccii is hoping that support continues at a fundraiser at the Travellers Rest, in Stockton Road, this Sunday.

The Hawks will be performing in the show alongside the talented group from On Your Toes Dance School.

Dozens of stalls, crafts and activities, bouncy castles and games will also be on offer at the event which will run from 11am-4pm.

Beccii said: “I don’t know exactly how much we will raise on Sunday but if we could get even closer or even reach £10,000 that would be fantastic.”

Meanwhile, the Hawks are holding sessions for youngsters who want to join the club on Sunday, September 15 at Brierton Sports Centre.
