A Hartlepool tutor has been selected as a key speaker at a fashion conference in Helsinki.
Dr Sarah Gilligan, Art and Design Tutor at Hartlepool College of Further Education, will speak at the Critical Costume 2015 Conference and Exhibition.
The costume theory specialist will deliver a keynote speech and take her place on a panel of high profile experts for debates about the topic.
Sarah said: “It’s an honour to be selected as a keynote speaker at such a high profile and prestigious international event, with the added opportunity of working with such talented industry professionals.
“It is opening doors to exciting opportunities for international creative collaborations, which will benefit both the College and our Art and Design students.
“It looks set to become part of a longer commercial partnership, which is extremely exciting.”
Aalto University’s School of Arts, Design and Architecture will host this year’s Critical Costume, which explores the theory and application of costumes in TV, film and media.
Among the people Sarah will be working alongside is Oscar nominee Deborah Nadoolman Landis, who worked on Hollywood productions like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Animal House and Michael Jackson’s Thriller video.
