A DANCE school teacher has lined up his first show since opening his own academy – and it is already in huge demand.
Zac Healey is both the choreographer and member of the Hartlepool street dance crew Ruff Diamond.
He also runs the Urban Rockz Dance Academy, which is based in Whitby Street South, in the town.
Zac said: “We will be putting on our first production in July, and it will involve every student in the school.”
The productions will be held on Thursday, July 10, and Friday, July 11, at 7pm. They will be staged at Manor College of Technology, in Manor Lane, Hartlepool, with tickets at £6 each.
Zac said: “They will run for around two hours each. I teach at Urban Rockz during the week and this is the first show that my school has put on.”
Zac estimated that up to 150 people will be involved, and that will include troupes from the Val Armstrong School of Performing Arts, which is also based in the same building.
The show is called Urban Rockz Dance Academy presents The Takeover, and the cast includes dancers aged from four to 25.
Zac explained what the show is all about.
“It shows a boy who is growing up, and he grows up with all the different types of street dance that he is inspired by.”
Preparation for the show began around a month ago and Zac said: “It is going really well, and we will be stepping things up.”
But anyone wanting to go along to the production needs to snap up their ticket soon.
Tickets for the Friday night performance have already sold out, but there are seats left for the Thursday show.
Those wanting to go along can get tickets from the Urban Rockz Studio on any day of the week, apart from a Sunday.
