A musical jamboree due to be held this weekend in Easington Colliery has had to be cancelled.

The Jumpin’ Hot Club, which brings roots music from around the world to the North East, was due to stage the event at Thorpe Lea East Farm on Saturday.

Due to circumstances beyond its control, the event has been cancelled, and ticket holders can get a full refund from their point of purchase.

Instead, the organisers will be putting a jamboree event at The Cluny in Newcastle on Saturday night.

It will feature Australian bluesman Hat Fitz and Irish folk singer Cara Robinson, the Bluebell Cajun Dance Band, the David Broad Trio, and local country ensemble the Kentucky Cowtippers.

Lorna from The Lathe Revival will be bringing a 1938 Presto lathe to do some live recordings onto old-fashioned 78s, and Stagger Lee 78 will DJ.

Doors open at 7pm, and tickets are £13 in advance from 0191 230 4474.
