A FOLK group with roots firmly seated in Hartlepool is preparing to embark on a nationwide tour in the New Year.
The Young ‘Uns formed 10 years ago, and quickly set up a folk club in Hartlepool where they became regulars on the local circuit.
Headlander Sean Cooney and pals David Eagle and Michael Hughes have gradually made a name for themselves over the last decade, earning rave reviews both locally and nationally.
The trio, who gave up their full-times jobs in 2013 in order to turn professional, are now poised to take the next step on their journey with a tour of the UK which kicks off in April.
The tour, which takes in 27 dates, starts in Morecambe on April 24 with a local date at The Sage in Gateshead the following night.
It has been arranged to promote the group’s latest album, Another Man’s Ground.
Sean, 29, said: “We have had a great year in 2014, where we played at Glastonbury and have been live on Radio 2.
“We are hoping to make further progress in the new year though, and would love to raise our exposure and get a bigger audience while maintaining our strong connection with the North East.
“All three of us turn 30 in 2015 as well, so this is quite a big time for us.”
