POPULAR Hartlepool band the Jar Family are back in town with a bang this weekend as they play a gig prior to the firework display at Seaton Carew.
Fresh from gigging their recently released second album around the country, the industrial folk seven-piece are back in their home town on Saturday.
The band will be performing at the Clock Tower, in Seaton Carew, kicking off between 5pm and 6pm. And the lads are delighted to be heading home for a “different” kind of gig,
“It is different to anything we have done before,” said Jar Family member Al Devon.
“Obviously we have played plenty of outdoor gigs before but this is something different and we’re really looking forward to it.”
It’s the first time the band, made up of Hartlepool lads Al Devon, Max Bianco, Richie Docherty, Chris Hooks and “Dali” as well as former Squeeze bassist Keith Wilkinson and Kez Edwards, have performed in the town since the launch of their second album.
And it’s in the middle of a busy period for the band, who have gigs penned into their diary through until next year and already have the third album in their thoughts.
Al added: “We do have a lot of young fans who obviously can’t come when we play at bars or venues so it’s great for them to be able to come along to gigs like the one this weekend.”
Thousands of people will head to Seaton Carew for the action on Saturday. The programme of entertainment starts at 5pm with the firework display getting underway at 6pm.
This year’s event will have a theme of superheroes and officials are hoping many people will come along dressed as their favourite character.
Organisers say the best viewing area for the firework display is the rear of the clock tower.
