AN extravaganza of fun is on the way to town once again when the annual Peterlee Show returns later this month.
The popular event comes to Helford Road on Saturday, August 30, and Sunday, August 31.
Hailed as a show for all the family to enjoy, it is now in its 42nd year.
Mayor of Peterlee, Councillor Don Milsom, said: “I certainly will be going along – I will be the first there.
“I’m hoping the weather keeps holding on and there’s no rain.”
He said a highlight for him is “seeing as many people as we possibly can walking round the field having a good time”.
Mayor Milsom added that he is particularly looking forward to the vintage cars on the Sunday afternoon and the bands on the Saturday.
There will be a Peterlee Games 2014 where teams will be competing for prizes in a sporting competition, starting at 10.30am on the Saturday.
Saturday’s music kicks off with a performance by Peterlee GT Brass Band at 11.30am.
From noon, there will be a mix of performances from dancers and cheerleaders, then a magic show at 2pm.
There will be live music from 3pm-10pm, when there will be a spectacular fireworks display.
Other highlights include a companion dog show and horticultural show, with adult and child entries to be brought to the marquee on August 29 for judging from 3pm-8pm.
There will be a football tournament taking place on the Saturday at 9.30am for the under-9s and 1.30pm for the under-10s.
