A Hartlepool United fan’s song, Poolie Til I Die, will be played today on BBC2 during the FA Cup tie.

Paul Hart, a member of Red Dreams, an organisation for creative young people, wrote the song to help raise money for charity.

Once the FA Cup tie between Salford v Hartlepool was chosen to be televised, Red Dreams contacted the BBC over Twitter and amazingly the producer of Match of the Day replied saying they would love to use the track in some way.

So it was agreed that the song would be played, in part, during a piece about Jeff Stelling on the programme.

A lifelong Pools fan, Paul, 30, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled the BBC has chosen to use Poolie ‘Til I Die to be part of their FA Cup coverage. We can’t wait.

“We would like to thank everyone who has supported the track.”

Ian McManus, co founder of Red Dreams, said: “It is inspirational to see people like Paul have his track played on national television, proving it is possible to achieve your dreams.”
