SCHOOLS from across Hartlepool have united in song.
Children from Barnard Grove, Clavering, West View, St Helen’s, St Bega’s and St John Vianney primary schools attended the event at Northern Lights Academy.
Each school performed three songs individually before they teamed up for a rendition of ABBA’s Thank You For The Music.
Janine Thompson, deputy headteacher at Barnard Grove, said: “The children loved it, they were a bit nervous as they’ve never performed in front of such a crowd but it really helped their confidence.
“We have a Glee Club, led by Naomi Tones, and they practice every Monday, performing modern music like Adele. We’d definitely do the event again and we’re looking at next year.” Facilitators from each of the schools have met up regularly for the past few years to arrange such events.
Julie Cavill, facilitator at St Helen’s, said: “There was a whole mixture of styles and our school performed songs with a World War One theme.
“Judging by the feedback, the children enjoyed it and we would do it again.”
