TEENAGE talent Elena Larkin is hoping to strike the right chord in the finals of a music competition.
It’s just days until the 17-year-old from Hartlepool performs at the O2 Academy in Newcastle in the final of the SoundWave contest.
And the Hartlepool Sixth Form College student is hoping to do even better than last year’s excellent showing when she also got to the last stages. This time’s she’s bidding to win the top prize which includes a recording package, and a chance to show how talents to music industry experts.
Other prizes could include a photoshoot, and a magazine and press coverage.
Proud dad Stephen Larkin, 51, works as a welder at Heerema, and mum Sandra, 50, is a primary care trust manager in East Durham.
Stephen said: “She wants to be a professional musician. That is her dream, it’s anything to do with the music industry. That is what she is really interested in.
“She loves performing and she loves writing songs. She keeps fighting for what she wants and she is doing really well.”
She will not be the only town representative as town band Aces & Sinners has also made it to the final 14.
