A HARTLEPOOL academy which trains youngsters in skills including dance is looking forward to a second year of great achievements.
The Michelle Brown Academy of Dance & Theatre Arts (MBA), enjoyed a huge year in 2014.
Highlights included a Christmas show at Manor College of Technology in Hartlepool, and academy founder Michelle Brown said: “We have had a lot of enquiries since our show which was a sell out and a huge success. I have had amazing feedback from people who came to watch the production.”
Earlier in the year, MBA students competed in the Hartlepool Music Festival for the first time and Michelle saw three out of eight pupils gain places in the grand final Another highlight was the fundraising event held for the 4Babybell and 4Louis charities. But now the academy is looking forward to another year packed with activities.
Michelle welcomed “lots of new pupils” on the first day of term earlier this week.
She added: “We have lots of competitions coming up and we are preparing for more musical theatre exams and music festivals.”
The academy is now based at Enterprise House in Thomlinson Road in the dance studios alongside the On Your Toes dance school.
Michelle said: “MBA has lots of competitions, championships, music festivals and musical theatre exams ahead of us this year starting with the County Durham Championships next month.”
It marks a return to the first championship MBA ever competed in and in which Maizie Hunter got a runner-up spot in the infant song and dance section.
Michelle added: “I am already planning this year’s summer school and I am extremely excited for the year ahead. The new studio is always buzzing and has such a fantastic atmosphere especially with two schools running alongside each other offering completely different styles of dance.”
