Jason Manford taking to the stage at Sunderland Empire on Friday and Saturday

ONE of Britain’s best-loved funnymen is in the region this weekend on the latest leg of his nationwide tour.

Jason Manford is appearing at Sunderland Empire tonight and tomorrow and says his show features a wealth of comedy anecdotes, comic misunderstandings and audience banter.

The Manchester-born comedian is a regular guest on comedy panel shows, and also recently turned his hand to opera singing after winning ITV’s Born To Shine show.

Stand up sets on Live at the Apollo (BBC One), Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC One) and The Royal Variety Performance (ITV1, 2009) have all helped establish Jason as one of the top comics around.

Jason said: “Some of you might think I’ve had a career change what with all the opera and musical theatre I’ve been doing lately. Not a chance, I’m excited to be getting back to what I really love the most – stand up.”

Both shows get underway at 8pm and tickets priced £23.50 can be purchased in person from the Box Office on High Street West, Sunderland, the Ticket Centre on 0844 871 3022 and online at www.ATGtickets.com/Sunderland.a english test
