Wizard of Oz at the Billingham Forum
FOLLOW the yellow brick road to Billingham Forum Theatre for an absolutely fantastic family show.
The Wizard Of Oz is being staged at the popular theatre and those who go along - old and young - are in for an over-the-rainbow-style treat.
Everything from the staging, the props, the choreography, lighting and music was simply brilliant.
But the emeralds in this performance were the main characters - Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tinman, Lion and the Wicked Witch.
The witch was as believeable as the evil one from the original film and had my four-year-old son Joshua clambering onto my knee each time she appeared on stage!
The lion’s short tongue and “put ‘em up” routine went down a treat, as did the scarecrow’s wobbly legs seeing him ‘accidentally’ toss water into the squealing crowd.
Dorothy - with her excellent Kansas accent - and cute real-life dog Toto (who made a brief appearance), and Tinman were equally as fab.
Each and everyone of them delivered excellently and took the audience away to that imaginary land of Oz.
All of the famous Oz songs had the audience singing and clapping along, with renditions of Over The Rainbow, Follow the Yellow Brick Road and Off To See The Wizard.
I could not pick a fault, and me, my mum, and my two sons Jacob, six, and Joshua, drove home with non-stop talk of the show.
Wizard Of Oz runs until Saturday, February 22 with tickets costing £13, £10 for concessions, or £42 for a family ticket. The show starts at 6.30pm with 1.30pm matinee performances on Friday and Saturday.
