Stand-up Matt Reed plans solo show in Hartlepool after impressing at town’s Hot Potato Club

A FUNNYMAN is planning a solo show in Hartlepool after establishing himself as a favourite at a comedy club.

Matt Reed is a familar face as well as a popular compere at the monthly Hot Potato Club in Hartlepool.

But on Friday, October 18, he will feature on his own in a show at the Town Hall Theatre in Raby Road.

He said: “I hadn’t intended doing another one-man show this year, but Hartlepool was just too tempting.

“Hot Potato is one of my favourite gigs. It has always one of the best crowds to banter with, always up for a laugh, and almost like one big happy family.”

He added: “A lot of people have probably seen me compere and be chatty, and that’s what I’m going to be - chatty.

Tickets are already selling fast for the show and Matt described how he’s performed in all sorts of venues and in all sorts of conditions before.

“I’ve done gigs in a cave, up a mountain, too drunk, too ill, and with broken ribs. But I love my job and I can not see it changing anytime soon.”

His show is called Matt Reed: Look At My Bloody Brilliant Poster!

Doors for the Hartlepool gig open at 7.30pm with the show starting at 8pm.

Tickets costing £10 are available from the theatre box office in Church Square or by calling the box office on (01429) 890000.
