PEOPLE have the chance to enjoy a much-loved fable at a town theatre.
Hans Christian Andersen’s much-loved fable of The Princess and The Pea will come to life again in a sparkling new production at Hartlepool’s Town Hall Theatre on Saturday, November 22.
In this new version by theatre company tutti frutti and York Theatre Royal, the down-at-heel queen is looking for a princess to marry her irresponsible son and hopefully save her family.
On a stormy night a bedraggled girl seeks shelter at the castle, claiming to be a princess.
The prince is instantly smitten but the queen has to be certain that the girl is indeed a real princess.
If the girl is of royal blood, she will surely be very sensitive, so the prince’s mother decides to put the unexpected guest to the test, inviting her to stay the night and placing a pea in her bed covered with a multitude of mattresses.
Featuring music and songs, this boisterous, funny production is aimed at children aged three to seven years and their families and is bursting with energy and audience participation.
There are two performances - at noon and 3pm – and tickets cost £4 per person (£3 for concessions) or £12 for a family ticket for up to five people.
