A COMEDY club has pulled off a coup by clinching an appearance from one of TV’s most hotly-tipped comics.
The popular Hot Potato Comedy Club, which meets monthly in Hartlepool, returns on Saturday, October 26.
And one of the names on the bill will be Romesh Ranganathan whose career is on the up.
He has just been announced as one of the stars of Channel 4’s Stand-Up For The Week, which starts a new series next month.
The news follows hot on the heels of Romesh’s gigs on Mock the Week, and caps a great few months that also saw him nominated as best newcomer at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.
A strong line-up for this month’s Hot Potato event also sees award-winning comic Carey Marx share the stage with Chris Washington and Mike Wilkinson who will be the master of ceremonies.
All the fun will happen at the Town Hall Theatre, in Raby Road.
Peter Vincent, of the show’s promoters Ten Feet Tall, said: “We have had Romesh in the diary for a little while now and we are not surprised he is going to be all over the TV during the next couple of months.
“He always goes down an absolute storm, so this is a great chance to see him before he starts hitting the much bigger stages.
“Carey Marx walked off with the Best International Show Award at the New Zealand Comedy Festival, both in 2009 and 2011.
“And don’t miss Chris Washington. We are also chuffed to have Mike Wilkinson who has supported the likes of Peter Kay, Johnny Vegas and Ross Noble.”
Tickets for the show are available now at £6. They will stay at that price up to a week before the performance.
After that, they will be £9 or £8 with concessions.
Anyone wanting more information or to book tickets, should contact the theatre box office which is in the Hartlepool Tourist Information Centre, in Church Square, in Hartlepool.
