A GROUP has held its first theatre show and now it is on the lookout for more people to join up.
The Hartlepool-based Music Factory staged Beyond Broadway at Owton Manor Social Club and organisers described it as a fantastic success.
More than 250 guests were treated to entertainment which spanned 80 years of musical theatre shows. It included everything from Sunset Boulevard and Miss Saigon to Les Miserables and Wicked.
There were solo, duet and group performances and for many of the group this was their first time ever performing on stage.
One of the performers from the show, Hayley Cotson said “Its one of the best things I have ever done. Performing in a show like this is completely out of my comfort zone but its made me more confident and I just cant wait for the next one.”
The adult musical theatre group has only been together for six months. They meet on Tuesday evenings at the Music Factory, in York Road, Hartlepool and sessions are run by Julie Turner.
The organisation is a group of like minded individuals with a passion for musical theatre.
A spokesman said: “We focus on vocal coaching, acting and basic choreography. We have members aged from 15 to 65 and because we have similar interests we get on so well, we don’t take each other too seriously and laugh from start to finish.
“We would love to welcome new people to the group and no experience is necessary, simply come along to the Music Factory from 6pm on Tuesdays.”
Owner and school principal Julie Turner offers vocal tuition, developing performers from as young as four through to 74. Julie has a team of teachers specialising in their own areas such as acting, stagecraft, broadcast journalism and audition preparation.
