Rapper The Game to perform at Rainton Arena

West Coast rapper The Game is set to raise the roof at Rainton Arena next month.

The performer, whose hits include How We Do and Hate It Or Love It, will be taking to the stage at the Houghton venue on Friday, February 7 as part of his Born 2 Rap tour.

He’s the latest name to be announced at the venue, which will also host a huge ‘80s party with Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp this year, after new owner Jay Johal took over and pledged to bring more events to the arena.

Jayceon Terrell Taylor, better known by his stage name The Game, rose to fame in 2005 with the success of his debut album, The Documentary, and his two Grammy nominations.

Since then, he is considered to be a driving force in bringing back the West Coast hip hop scene and competing with many of his East Coast counterparts.

Aside from releasing two albums that debuted at number one in the American charts, he has gained notoriety for this collaborations with music giants including the legendary Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Jamie Foxx, Wiz Khalifa, Drake, J. Cole and Eminem.

Jay said: “It’s a big event for us to bring to the area and has been a lot of hard work as he didn’t appear at a previous event in Middlesbrough. We have to make sure we have met all his requests to make this happen but it’s a big coup for us and we hope there will be many more.”
