AN entrepreneur is stepping down from a popular TV series.

Duncan Bannatyne, who lives in Wynyard, on the outskirts of Hartlepool, is leaving BBC2 show Dragons’ Den after 12 series – telling producers: “I’m out.”

The health club boss, 65, was one of the original team of business experts when the programme launched nine years ago.

He announced that the forthcoming series - starting on July 20 - will be his last “due to other business commitments”.

Mr Bannatyne said: “I have had the time of my life as a Dragon, I have made numerous investments and taken part in a landmark TV programme that has promoted entrepreneurship to an entire generation of Britons.”
