Middleton Grange Shopping Centre remains open during coronavirus outbreak as staff step up cleaning measures

Hartlepool’s Middleton Grange Shopping Centre has reassured customers that it remains open for business during the coronavirus outbreak.

The popular shopping complex in the town centre confirmed to customers that the centre remains open at this time as staff continue to carry out an ‘enhanced’ cleaning regime.

Middleton Grange bosses also urged customers to shop ‘sensitively and respectfully'.

It comes as shops across the country have been left with empty shelves as customers rush to stock up on essential items.

Government guidelines ask members of the public to avoid crowded places such as pubs and clubs in a bit to combat the spread of the illness.

The public is also advised to avoid non-essential travel and to work from home where possible.

A statement to customers on the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre Facebook page read: “During this difficult time, we want to assure you that the wellbeing of our teams, retailers and customers is of paramount importance.

“In line with Government guidance, our centre remains open however the opening times of individual stores may vary - so we always recommend that our customers check directly with retailers prior to setting off.

“We have already implemented an enhanced cleaning regime throughout the centre, and we are working closely with all of our stores throughout this challenging period to maintain our consistently high standards and we will continue to follow advice from our local health authority, the Government and the World Health Organisation.

“Our retailers are working hard to help our local community, and we ask that our visitors shop sensitively and respectfully.”

Middleton Grange Shopping Centre is open from 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4.30pm on Sunday.
