Big changes in store for Hartlepool's central library
The Community Hub Central, in York Road, is moving the library, currently on the ground and first floor, to the upstairs only.
A variety of public amenities will take the books’ place in a newly created Community Zone.

Hide AdA Hartlepool Borough Council notice stated: “The library is moving onto the first floor of Community Hub Central.
"We will have over 60,000 books available for people together with an improved inter-library loan offer, click and collect and, of course, our expanding BorrowBox service.
"Building work will start soon and we look forward to inviting you into our wonderful space.”
The new Community Zone will include a permanent spot for The Support Hub which was set up by the council in partnership with other organisations to help people in need during the initial Covid-19 outbreak.

Hide AdAn organisation called The People’s Network will also be based in the new area with new technology for people to use.
There will also be a room where people can try equipment to help them in their homes, and a specialist motorised cycle that aids mobility.
The children’s area will remain for activities including the popular parent and toddler sessions and baby babble.
Space and rooms for people to hold meetings and activities will be available.

Hide AdThe building is currently remains closed to the public following the coronavirus pandemic.
Some other town libraries and hubs have reopened. They are Community Hub South (Wynyard Road) which is open Monday to Friday from 10am-3pm and Saturdays 10am-12pm.
And Seaton Library open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10am-3pm and Saturdays 10am-12pm.
